Key Concepts
The dramatic play center becomes a camping area where the children will review the letter and sounds they have been introduced to in previous themes. Two repetitive stories Playing Hide and Seek and Trix the Cat.
Trix the Cat is about a girl who is looking for her cat named Trix. She finds her in a number of places, all being on, by or under a Tt word. The children are required to place Trix in these spots. This is an introduction to the letter Tt.
Bonus story Counting Rhyme Time is just like it sounds. It is a rhyming story about numbers. This provides further assistance in meeting curriculum expectations by exposing the children to the written number forms. Rhyming is an important early reading skill. Research has shown children introduced to rhyme in the early years experience greater success at learning to read.
Reading - The stories repetitive enough to allow kindergarten and preschool children to read them on their own after they been introduced as a shared reading experience. This serves as a powerful method for young children to not only gain a better understanding of the reading process but also gaining a positive attitude towards it by having them experience reading the story on their own (pretend reading) and the pride of completing the book (interactive component).
Math - children make alphabet patterns with the materials supplied.
Alphabet - alphabet cards are included for the alphabet hiding game.
