Who are the community helpers?

A look at how different community helpers choose their roles based on their interests and talents.

The key purpose of the unit is to expose the children to the different possibilities of career paths they could pursue, based on their own talents and interests.

What is included in the theme unit?

Four emergent readers Workers Who Help Us, Being Creative, Using My Hands and Serving Others.

Each reader requires the children to participate in completing the books.  For example, in the book Workers Who Help Us, the children are required to find, cut and paste the correct vehicle that matches the correct community helper.

The focus of the different readers is to help the children understand the importance of choosing a career based on their own interests and talents.

You will find suggestions for circle time and all the related materials to use.
