Station Games

Pictures for each of the activities are found in the members' area (32 pictures in total).

Station 1- Kindergarten and Preschool Games

1.  Balance on One Foot

Have children close their eyes and try to balance on one foot.  They can hop forwards 5 times and backwards 5 times.  They can have a contest with other students in their group to see who can balance the longest.

2.  Jumping High

Place masking tape on the gymnasium walls at various heights.  Can the children jump and touch each height?  How many times can they do this in a row?

3.  Standing Long Jump

Have children stand with their arms parallel, swing their arms, jump forward as far as possible onto the mat.  Masking tape could also be taped onto the floor at different distances.  Can they jump to each distance?

4.  Curl Ups

Have children lay flat on the mat, fold their arms across their chest, knees bent and slowly move themselves up.  How many can they do?

5.  Hoop Skipping

Instead of using a skipping rope, have children skip using a hoop.  This is easier for most children.

6.  Push Ups

Show children how to do simple wall push ups.

7.  Bench Stepping

Using a bench or something sturdy, have children step onto and off the bench.

Station 2 - Kindergarten and Preschool Games

1.  Balance Beam

Children try to balance themselves by walking on a bench or beam.

2.  Partner Throw and Catch

Children try to throw a ball or beanbag to a partner.  The children could also try bouncing the ball to a partner.

3.  Ball and Pylon Target

Children try to see how many times they can hit a pylon with a ball.  A beanbag could also be used .

4.  Over and Under Chairs

Line up chairs in the gymnasium.  Have children climb over and under them.

5.  Bouncing the Ball

Have children see how many bounces they can do without the ball getting away from them (could use one or two hands).

6.  Jumping Jacks

Assign a number that you feel they can count to.

7.  Partner Teeter Totter

Partners hold each others hands.  One child is standing and the other is squatting.  The children alternate their positions.  They must ensure each time one is standing and the other is squatting low.

8.  Cross Country Skiing

Children place two pieces of paper underneath their feet (these are the cross country skis).  The children are to try and reach a certain point and return without their feet leaving the skis.  Can they do this faster each time?

9.  Cartwheel

Demonstrate to the children how to do a simple cartwheel.  Place a skipping rope or hoop on the floor.  Show children how to cartwheel over it.

Station 3 - Kindergarten and Preschool Games

1.  Leg Raises

Children sit on the floor with their hands behind their head.  They close their legs together trying to slowly lift them up and then slowly returning them to the mat.

2.  Hopscotch

Use hoops to make a hopscotch pattern.

3.  Target Kick Ball

Have children see how many times they can kick a ball in a net or by hitting a target on the wall or floor (pylon could be used.)

4.  Leapfrog

Children take turns leaping over each other.

5.  Juggling

Use sacrves or beanbags.  Can they juggle two at a time?

6.  Rolling on a Mat

Children can see how many different rolls they can do on a mat.

7.  Partner Juggling

Children pass two beanbags to each other, alternating throws.  See how many they can do without one falling.

8.  Threesome Skipping

Two children hold a skipping rope, moving it back and forth.  One child must try to jump over the moving rope.  Children alternate.

9.  Jumping Over

Choose a low bench for the children to jump over.  How many times can they do this?
