Mother's Day Gift Craft Idea for Kindergarten and Preschool - Magnet

Recipe and Instructions for the No-Cook Play Clay Mother's Day Magnet Project

1 cup of all purpose flour

1/2 cup of salt

1/2 cup of warm tap water

Mix flour and salt and pour in warm tap water.  Stir well.

Knead the dough

You might need to double or even triple this recipe if you work with a larger group of children.

  • give each child in the craft center a small amount of dough
  • they can roll out their own dough
  • cut out a round circle using the top of a glass
  • have children pinch the edges to form petals of a flower
  • let the flower air dry (4-5 days) or for faster results cook at 200 F for about an hour (ensure you turn the flower during this time).
  • a cookie cutter could also be used
  • children paint the flower (acrylic paint works best)
  • a magnet is attached to the back
