Father's Day Magnets

Recipe and Instructions for the No-Cook Play Clay Father's Day Magnet Project

1 cup of all purpose flour

1/2 cup of salt

1/2 cup of warm tap water

Note:  Save some of the dough and add red food coloring for the lips and nose, if you are making the dad face magnet as shown above .

Mix flour and salt and pour in warm tap water.  Stir well.

Knead the dough

You might need to double or even triple this recipe if you work with a larger group of children.

  • give each child in the craft center a small amount of dough
  • roll out on aluminum foil, this can be placed on a cookie sheet and then baked
  • the children can roll out their own dough
  • cut out a round circle using the top of a glass if you are making the face
  • If you are making the dad face magnet the children can add the lips and the nose by rolling out the red dough.
  • If you are making the dad face magnet the hair and eyebrows were rolled and then painted.
  • Wiggly eyes were used for the dad face magnet
  • this can air dry for 4 - 5 days or for faster results place the finished product in the oven at 200 F for about an hour (ensure you turn half way through to allow drying on both sides).
  • place a magnet on the back (this is optional, this will require a stronger magnet).

Picture Frame and Poem

In the link below you will find the picture frame displayed.  It will fit a regular sized photo (4 X 6).
