About Me

I am Elaine Engerdahl, I have taught a number of primary grades in my 26 years of teaching, specializing in the area of reading instruction. I was asked to teach kindergarten eleven years ago. I realized then that there were expectations to introduce early reading skills. A child entering grade one with this early introduction is far more likely to be successful. Having taught many grades and understanding the reading process, I was concerned about the programs that were offered at this level. Many of the programs introduced the letters and sounds in isolation of meaning. This disturbed me because I felt this is not the most effective way to teach meaningful early reading skills. For this reason, I was motivated to create the program called,  Early Learning Solutions.

It was my goal to integrate many skills within the reading content books. This integration is so crucial in achieving the outcomes with the increasing expectations that are placed on us each year. I hope Early Learning Solutions assists you in making your job a little easier. Countless hours of work has been put forth in producing the program, in the hopes of saving you time . I know if I had this program when I first started teaching kindergarten, it certainly would have saved me countless hours of searching for ideas .
