Never be Lost for Ideas in Preparing Your Kindergarten and Preschool Themes Again!

Greatly Reduce Your Preparation Time by Accessing a Full Year of Kindergarten and Preschool Themes:  Helping you Meet the Curriculum Expectations Effectively!

Integrating Your Kindergarten and Preschool Themes

It is continually a struggle for many educators to meet the curriculum expectations in the time alloted.  As an educator I can relate to that added stress.  Integrating all areas of the curriulum within your theme lesson plans can provide a valuable learning avenue for your children, as well helping you coordinate meeting the curriculum expectations.

Below You Will Find Feedback From Members Who Have Experienced Success in Using These Kindergarten and Preschool Themes.

The membership area offers unlimited resources.  I will not be lost for any ideas this year.  I really enjoy how the resources provide suggestions in all areas of the curriculum. Thanks - Charlotte Wedder

The planning is really complete and you really cant' go wrong with KinderPlans. The teacher's prepping time is reduced, as much as the headache trying to find the right activities.  Giovana Samara

This is the most successful web-site I have found. Everything is so easy to find and instructions easily readable. Thank you for a great job well done! Keep up the great work!!! Sincerely, Julie Wine

Kindergarten and Preschool Themes Literature Integration

The book "My Friend Isabelle" is a wonderful book to read to the children. It introduces the concept of how children can be good friends even if they have individual differences.  It offers an excellent opportunity for follow-up discussions.

Kindergarten and Preschool Themes Beginning Reading Skills Integration

After reading the book, the emergent reader "Family of Friends" found in the link below could be used to introduce beginning reading skills.  It could be made into a big book, pictures and print placed in a pocket chart, placed on an overhead transparency or written on chart paper with the pictures accompanying the print to use for shared reading (information on shared reading can be found under the heading on the left-sidebar under Reading Strategies).

The children can print the names of their friends on their own, the teacher can print the names of their friends or since the focus is on the group being "a family of friends" a name would be drawn from a bag or container and this would be pasted on the pages that says "My friend's name is."  A picture added to the name would help the children read the name.

Kindergarten and Preschool Themes Letter Recognition Integration - Letter "Ff"

Letter "Ff" would be introduced within the context of the story.  It could be painted with a feather or finger and names of friends could also be cut and glued on the letter to represent  letter "Ff" sound.

Letter "Ff"

Letter "Ff" Sound Sorting

Duplicate copies of the pictures found in the link below can be made. Children sort the pictures according to if they make the "Ff" sound or not.

 Making Names Activity

A photo along with each child's name can be placed in individual sandwich bags.  Included in the bag is individual letters for the children to arrange in order to make the name.  Once they have finished making one name they must return the materials back into the bag and try making another name.

 Joining of Friends Craft Activity

In the links below you will find template to make the "Joining of Friends" craft as displayed to the right.  The children could trace the body from  a template made out of card stock. After, the body shape is cut and facial features are added.  The children could try and sort through a number of names on a table and identify theirs.  Once the name is found, this could be glued on.

One-to-One Correspondence and Number Counting

Children can make a friendship necklace or bracelet using colored Cheerios.  The teacher designates a certain number of cheerios that are to be used to complete the activity.  The children must use their counting ability to complete the project.  The children could also complete this using color patterning.

Snack Activity Integrating Counting

Children can make a simple friendship mix much like trail mix.  Using one-to-one number correspondence the children can count 10 cheerios, 10 shreddies and 10 pretzels, etc.

Note:  This is only a small sample of what you receive in each theme unit!
